Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter
now with audio!
Suitable for new model MacbookPro's etc. (from April 2010) Note: previous models did not do audio out of mini display port, latest models do, does up to 1080p and requires a HDMi cable from HDMI Female to the display.
Activate display mirroring in system preferences, make sure to also hit the audio settings and select the TV source for output. Once done the TV remote control raises and lowers volume. Can hook the MacBook Pro up to a receiver too, switch audio outputs in the DVD players setting using what Apple listed as "internal HDMI out," and get Dolby Digital 5.1 audio that sounds as good as HDMI.

You have your Macbook or PC laptop all hooked up to video but youneed sound from your computer, here is the solution, just add this adapter along with a standard Optical (Toslink) cable and away you go, problem solved. Converts Mini Optical Toslink plug to Optical standard size. Very well made and with gold plated tip for corrosion resistance.
Don't forget, you'll need some cables to go with the Display Port to HDMI Converter if your Macbook Pro was pre April 2010 model (see above), so in this case the first choice is for an Optical cable, the second is for HDMI Cable.
Note: Remove end cap protectors before instal, plug only goes in one way.
and you'll need a HDMI cable to go with this adapter!
